3 New Reasons to Join InsideTracker

Written by InsideTracker | Aug 21, 2024

If you’ve been paying attention to InsideTracker, you’ve probably noticed some big changes.

For starters, we recently rolled out a new membership plan that makes it easier to track your health over time. It lets you upload unlimited blood results from your doctor and shaves hundreds of dollars off the cost of each test booked through us.

Now we’re rolling out more membership perks. We’re excited to announce three new features:
  1. Ask InsideTracker is an AI-powered chatbot trained on clinically validated health information.
  2. InnerAge social share lets you quickly share your InnerAge results to start a conversation online.
  3. The Healthspan Habit Report provides weekly health insights based on your fitness tracker data. (Coming soon!

Let’s take a closer look at the three new features.

1) Ask InsideTracker

Ask InsideTracker is a new, first-of-its kind AI chatbot that simulates conversations with accredited health experts.

As a member, you can ask it questions on topics like biomarkers, supplements, and healthspan. In return, you’ll get direct, science-backed answers that cut through the noise of confusing, often inaccurate advice online.

Ask InsideTracker is built with OpenAI’s GPT-4, also known as ChatGPT. The difference is it’s firmly committed to research-backed answers. It pulls information from a library of health articles InsideTracker has produced over more than a decade.

Our authors include subject-matter experts in nutrition, exercise physiology, preventive health, and biology. We never give advice that isn’t backed by rigorous science.

Ask InsideTracker is a conversational large language model (LLM), so with each question, you can stay high-level or go as deep as you want.

And because we update our library often, Ask InsideTracker will always provide up-to-date information. It’s like having a conversation with an InsideTracker expert.

Ask InsideTracker is not our first dance with AI. In fact, we’ve been using “thinking” technology for years.

Our SegterraX AI engine holds the knowledge of several thousand peer-reviewed studies. When you feed in your blood, DNA, and fitness tracker inputs, it applies a huge body of research to your personal data. That’s how we deliver high-impact personalized recommendations.

But Ask InsideTracker is different. It allows you to ask questions and “talk” to it, just like you would with a human.

Questions you might pose to Ask InsideTracker:

  • “My eczema is driving me nuts. Which biomarkers should I focus on to reduce my symptoms?”
  • “Are there any supplements that increase free testosterone?”
  • “My liver enzyme levels are too high. How can I bring them down to hit my target zones?”
  • “Which biomarkers should I focus on to improve my VO2max?”

How to use Ask InsideTracker:

  • If you’re logged into the app, click the icon on the navigation bar at the bottom of the screen.
  • If you’re logged in on desktop, click the icon on the navigation bar at the top of your dashboard.

On the horizon:
Currently, Ask InsideTracker does not have access to your personal health information. But that will change in the future.

Looking forward, you’ll have the option to let Ask InsideTracker see your InsideTracker dashboard. Members who opt in to the secure experience will be able to ask direct questions about their blood, DNA, and fitness tracker data.

2) InnerAge social share

Odds are, you already understand the power of social support. It’s the loved one cheering you on from the sidelines or the friend who challenges you to wake up early for a sunrise HIIT class.

This kind of encouragement is fuel on the fire of motivation. That’s why we added a “share” button alongside your InnerAge results—so you have the opportunity to engage your network by posting your InnerAge on sites like Linkedin, Facebook, and Twitter.

For background, InnerAge, also called biological age, represents the speed at which your body is aging. We calculate this using 13 to 17 blood biomarkers, all of which are included in your Ultimate blood test.

InnerAge can be higher or lower than your calendar age, which is the number on your driver’s license. If your InnerAge is higher, you may have an elevated risk of age-related diseases. If it’s lower, you should take it as a sign that your healthy habits are paying off.

Whether your InnerAge is high or low, sharing it with your network is a great way to enlist social support, start a conversation, or challenge your friends to beat your number.

When you click to share, you’ll get a code to produce an image similar to the one below—only it will contain your InnerAge. From there you can add your own commentary or tag your friends.

How to share your InnerAge from the mobile app:

  • Log in to your InsideTracker account
  • Click “Results” from the bottom navigation bar
  • Click “InnerAge” in the top right corner
  • Click “Share your InnerAge”

How to share your InnerAge from your desktop dashboard:

  • Log in to your InsideTracker account
  • Click “InnerAge” on the navigation bar at the top of the screen
  • Click “Share your InnerAge”

3) Healthspan Habit Report
Coming soon!

Imagine you could get a weekly report card for your health. It would grade you on sleep, heart rate, steps, and other metrics related to healthspan

That’s what the Healthspan Habit Report is. Think of it as a one-page accountability scorecard and weekly challenge to get healthier and stronger.

The report pulls in data from your fitness tracker and turns it into insights about how your behavior is affecting your health—plus what you can do to improve next week.

Soon, every InsideTracker Member with blood results and a synced fitness tracker will receive this report once a week.

With each report, you’ll get the following:

  • A Healthspan Habit Score. The scale goes from zero to 100. A low score signals that your health may be slipping, while a high score suggests you’re maintaining or improving.
  • A summary of your week’s activities. You’ll get insight into which habits are pushing your habit score higher and which are dragging it down.
  • Two habits to choose from. Based on your results, we’ll suggest two challenges for the week ahead. By committing to one of them, you’ll help drive your habit score up for the following week.

If you’re wondering why we don’t give you more challenges, the answer’s simple: People who try to change several habits at once are more likely to fail.

If you implement a new diet, bedtime, exercise routine, and meditation practice the same week you’re trying to cut back on alcohol, you’re bound to feel overwhelmed. You’ll probably throw your hands up in defeat and fall right back into your old ways.

By focusing on one thing at a time, you give each new behavior an opportunity to become an automatic habit.

The goal with habit formation—and with the Healthspan Habit Report—is to improve constantly, but slowly. That leads to long-term sustainable growth.

To that end, the challenges we suggest are designed specifically to improve your habit score quickly. To get the most from the report, you’ll want to commit fully to your week’s challenge.

How to sign up for Healthspan Habit Report
There’s no need to sign up. If you’re an InsideTracker member, the report will be triggered automatically if you have:

  • Blood results in your account
  • A synced fitness tracker
  • At least two days of fitness tracker data each week for the past three weeks
(If you haven’t already done it, here's how to sync your fitness tracker.)

How to access your weekly report

If you’re eligible, you’ll receive a weekly email with a link to your most recent report. Just open the email and click the link.

The Healthspan Habit Report is going through testing now. It will become available to all members in the winter.
