How to use Terra, InsideTracker’s AI Health Coach

Written by InsideTracker | Aug 1, 2025

Where do you turn for routine questions about your health, fitness, and nutrition?

If you’re like millions of people, you start with search engines. You type your question in, and in return, you get an endless scroll of generic articles.

They’re written for everybody and nobody at once, and they talk all around your problem without actually solving it. You can waste an hour reading and end up more confused than you were before.

At InsideTracker, we built Terra™ to provide reliable, personalized health information you can use right away.

Terra is an AI health coach with direct access to your blood results and other personal health data. When you ask a health question, you get a direct, science-backed answer. You don’t have to hunt for information or wonder whether the advice applies to you.

At the speed of typing, you can learn about your biomarkers, troubleshoot your symptoms, and find high-impact strategies for long-lasting health. And your conversations are entirely private, because Terra
protects your information with industry-leading security protocols.

If you’re an InsideTracker member, Terra is available to you now.

How Terra works

Terra is a large language model (LLM), which means you can "talk" to it using natural conversation.

But unlike other chat models, Terra has access to your health data. As a member, you can expect answers that take your personal health status into consideration. For instance:

  • Are you having sleep troubles?
  • Feeling abnormal soreness after your workouts?
  • Not sure which supplements you should be taking?
  • Curious about which biomarkers are dragging your metabolism score down the most?

These are all perfect topics to explore with Terra.

Behind a simple, conversational interface, Terra sifts through reams of InsideTracker-approved data and information to give you direct, science-backed answers that cut through the noise of confusing, generic, and often inaccurate advice online.

It’s like having a team of health experts always on call.

Here’s what Terra can “see” during your conversations:

  • Your blood data
Terra can access your most recent blood report. This allows it to give you personalized analysis and advice based on your current health status.

  • Your Healthspan Category analysis
Your category scores and data give Terra additional insight into key areas of your health, including your fitness, cognition, metabolism, and heart health.

  • Your health profile data
The self-reported details in your profile include information about your body composition, sleep habits, supplement intake, and food and exercise preferences. This ensures that you receive advice that makes sense for you.

  • The InsideTracker knowledge base
Terra will never share information from random blogs or Reddit threads. It relies solely on science-backed educational material approved by InsideTracker.

How Terra is different from other AI models

With most AI models, every user gets the same experience. The chatbot has access to the same information for everybody. And without proper safeguards, information you share could be re-shared to someone else.

But with Terra:

  • You get a completely personalized experience based on your body’s data.
  • Your information remains walled off from the rest of the world, so it's safe.
  • You can have a personalized conversation at any time. Since Terra has automatic access to data you’ve added to your InsideTracker dashboard, you don't have to "train" it about yourself.

Plus, there's the matter of reliability.

With generic AI models, there’s a big question of confidence. It’s not unusual for an AI agent to go rogue with off-topic tirades or pseudo-scientific ideas it picks up from dubious sources. Terra won't do this.

  • Terra is constrained with guardrails that ensure it can only offer reliable, science-backed health information.
  • In testing, 9 in 10 InsideTracker members said they trusted Terra’s advice and insights. (This signals a significant advantage over other AI models, which often have low consumer trust in regards to health and wellness.)

Terra won’t help you code or write your next novel, but for topics related to health and healthspan, it delivers expert advice you can rely on.

Terra in action

Let’s say you’ve been struggling during cardio workouts. You type: “I’ve been getting winded fast lately. What’s going on?”

Before answering, Terra quickly sifts through your personal health data. Because it’s AI, it can find and connect dozens of datapoints almost instantly, and it can cross-reference those with InsideTracker-approved science.

Immediately, Terra recognizes that your vitamin D levels are just below optimized. Plus your creatine kinase has recently gone up, which could signal muscle damage.

From here, Terra will walk you through the options for increasing your vitamin D and give you advice on how to improve your recovery between workouts.

With Terra, you’ll get an explanation that’s unique to you and a solution that aligns with the preferences you shared in your health profile. Your conversations are personal, specific, and secure. That’s something other AI models can’t promise.

5 ways to use Terra

The best way to get to know Terra is to start a conversation. Here are five ways to kick one off.

1. Troubleshoot fitness or endurance problems
If you’re feeling more soreness than usual or struggling to maintain your usual running pace, ask Terra for advice.

You might find there’s an explanation in your recent blood work.

2. Discover new ways to hit your health goals
Terra is a great planning partner.

If you’re setting out to hit a new health goal (such as

3. Get to know your blood biomarkers
What the heck is “transferrin saturation,” and how does it affect your body’s endurance?

If you’re uncertain about how your blood results relate to your day-to-day life, Terra can help.

4. Assess your supplement routine
Not sure if you should be taking magnesium? Curious how your creatine powder will affect your creatine kinase biomarker levels?

Run your supplements through Terra to find out if your routine is the best option for your current health.

5. Identify the best foods for your body
Here’s a question you can try right now. Just log in and ask: “Based on my blood results, which foods should I be eating more of?”

You might be surprised by the answer.
